New Music
This is a new section of the website completely devoted to new compositions. I resent the idea
of classical music being "dead," especially since composition for percussion is very much alive and
well. So, in this section you will be able see what new music I'm performing, what I've premiered, and what I'm
currently adding to my recital repertoire.
-News-
My extremely close friend
Brian Van Winkle has sent me an almost completed version of the piece I commissioned from him,
which is titled /dances.
-Performances-
There are no scheduled new music premiers.
All assisted living center performances now includ Casey Cangelosi's Prelude in f minor
All upcoming performances will include the fourth movement of Brian Van Winkle's /Dances
-Current Repertoire / Suggestions-
Cangelosi, Casey - Preludes in F & G Minor
I am extremely fond of Casey's compositions. I'm currently performing the F minor Prelude (c. 2004),
and have learned the G minor Prelude (c. 2007) in the past. I also plan on looking into a couple of his
Character pieces that he game me. Definetly check out his multi-percussion solo, Sick 6erpent.
Cheung, Pius
Pius is another marimbist/composer who's music I love. I have yet to work on any of his
compositions (due to a lack of a 5 octave marimba), but I would suggest any of his Etudes, Ballades, or
Musical Moments.
Van Winkle, Brian - /Dances
While this piece has yet to be completed, I have already began preparing certain movements
for public performance. I have performed multiple works by Brian, and would suggest that any musician
interested in new music contact him about his past compisitions (or new commissions).
McClure, Robert - Preludes 1, 3 & 4
Robert's music is extremely new to me, but I have been performing the 4th Prelude
for a few months now. I am smitten with the 1st and 3rd Preludes.
More to come soon!

-Notes to Composers-
The following link is the best guide I've found for composers venturing into
the difficult world of marimba composition. It comes from Nancy Zeltsman's website.
